Christmas In La Crescent 2020
For the health and safety of our community, Christmas in La Crescent 2020 will not include community gatherings like the Holiday Train, food and music as the Fire Dept. or Trivia. However, we have planned activities for your family to enjoy during the holiday season.
The La Crescent Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism invite you to enjoy the following activities in our community.
Christmas Decorating Contest
Judging - December 9th
Winners announced on December 11th
Each year, the Chamber recognizes those homes and businesses that show their holiday spirit by decorating the exterior of their building. The “Share the Spirit” award will go to a home or business that best displays the overall look of the Christmas season (quality not necessarily quantity). The winner will be notified by the La Crescent Chamber of Commerce and will be announced in the Houston County News.
If you or your neighbor's house is a must see, please contact the Chamber (507-895-2280 or firstname.lastname@example.org) so it is included in the judging.
Gift Certificate Campaign
Through December 15th
Let the Chamber be your elves and help with this year's gift giving.
For the price of the gift certificate (available in $25 increments) plus a $5 per certificate fee, the Chamber will purchase gift certificates from the La Crescent businesses of your choice and send it to your recipient with a Christmas card. The certificate can be mailed anonymously or can include your name as the sender.
To purchase your gift certificates, download the Secret Santa Order Form and send the completed form with payment to the La Crescent Chamber. One recipient per form please. Thank you for support the La Crescent Chamber and our local businesses.
Letters to Santa
Now - December 12th
Christmas is a special time of year for a child. A letter from Santa is a cherished memory. We understand that in this busy world, it may be difficult to find time to mail a letter to Santa. To help, the La Crescent Chamber of Commerce is offering a way for parents to submit their children's requests for a letter from Santa Claus. By giving Santa some additional information about your children, he can send a letter that specifically responds to the child's interest and hobbies.
Please note: Santa does not make promises for what presents a child will receive at Christmas. His elves work until Christmas Eve making presents so Santa may not know what present they will be receiving when he responds.
You can pick up your forms at the La Crescent Public Library or Quillin's. Completed forms can be returned to the mailbox in the vestibule of the Public Library. Parents can also click the link below to electronically request a letter from Santa.
Starting in December
Fill the Holiday Train
December 11th through
Unfortunately, Canadian Pacific Railway isn't doing their traditional Holiday Train in 2020. However, we're not going to let this stop us from having our own train.
The City of La Crescent will have our train setup by the corner of Main St & Oak St. We will light the train with our Christmas Tree on December 11th.
2020 has been difficult year for many in our community. We are asking those who can give back to help us fill the train!
Bring your non-perishable item and place it in the train. Volunteers from the community will deliver the food to our community food shelf for distribution.
